Important: How Your Data Is Stored
Because everything stays on your device, a few responsibilities fall to you. When you first open the calculator, we ask you to confirm that you understand each of the following. We're spelling them out here as well so there are no surprises:
- Your data can be lost.Entries are saved only in your browser's local storage. Saving can fail silently if storage is full, disabled, or restricted, so you should export your own backups regularly and not treat this tool as your only record.
- Your data is not encrypted. Account names, policy numbers, and commission amounts are stored in plain text on the device. Anyone with access to that computer or browser profile can view them, so securing your device is your responsibility.
- Your data disappears if the browser clears it. Private/incognito mode, clearing your browser data, or a browser set to auto-clear local data will permanently erase your saved information with no way to recover it.
